What is it about those bears?

I'd like to offer a huge thank you to my readers, who have made Predator's Kiss my highest ranking book yet on Amazon!! Thanks for your interest and kind comments, and thanks for loving my bears. If you loved it, please feel free to tell a friend today. Hugs!

What is it about these bears?

For me, it was always about the animal itself. The adorable mating rituals, such as the placing of the male's teeth on the female's cheek, in order to assert his dominance (ask the lady bear and she might give you another story!)

For me, it's also about the characters.  My gruff Ryland who just wants to be left in peace, but who has to deal with a world of trouble in his island haven. It's about Lia, the heroine on the run, who has a bizarre fear of furry creatures. Imagine her horror when presented with not one, but two, snarling bears!

And of course, it's about the love. I had so much fun developing the love between these two and showing all the tender, and very hot, ways in which they care for one another.

So, thank you readers, for always supporting me and for supporting this book too!

Release day for Predator's Kiss!

Woot woot! My bears have landed...okay, perhaps an astronaut metaphor wasn't quite right for bear shifters, but it's how I feel.

Today is release day for Predator's Kiss and I think I'm more excited over this release than I have been in a long time. I'm especially proud of this paranormal erotic romance, set in the wilds of Northern Ontario, and I hope it will make a great addition to your romance collection.

You can find Predator's Kiss at, but it will be available at Amazon, ARE, and B&N.

Add it to your Goodreads TBR list today at

Predator's Kiss Teaser!

Well, folks, May 20 is just around the corner, and it occurred to me I've never done a little teaser for Predator's Kiss! Shame on me!

Now, of course, hopefully you've all had a chance to see the stunning trailer created by my pal The Book Chick. And if not, please take a gander here, because she did an awesome job.

However, it's also nice to be able to read and have a different kind of sneak peek. So, with that in mind, please read on and enjoy this passage from Predator's Kiss. Mark your calendars for May 20, when it'll be available at and all ebooksellers.

Let me know what you think!

Bear shifter Ryland Snow just wants peace. The peace and quiet afforded him at his woodsy retreat, the Ursa Fishing Lodge. As owner of the lodge, Ryland enjoys the tranquil life he’s created among his fellow shifters. He lives to maintain a safe haven for them, away from meddlesome human eyes.

When his rock star brother arrives, bringing trouble in the form of a possible hitman, Ryland is incensed. He’s been cleaning up Soren’s messes as long as he can remember, and is tired of his brother’s lecherous exploits.

Things go from bad to worse when Lia Goodblood stumbles upon Ryland and his lodge. Yes, the reclusive erotica author is easy on the eyes, but the human woman is more trouble than she’s worth. To say nothing of her bizarre fear of furry creatures.

Ryland determines to rid himself of her presence. But when he learns she’s on the run from a crazed fan, Ryland’s protective bear instincts flare. And the bear won’t be denied.

Lia Goodblood was in pain. The worst she’d ever felt in her thirty-one years.

Man, I need to get off my ass more and join a spin class.

A searing, white-hot torment stitched up her side as she ran. She’d never moved her body so much in her entire life as she did racing through these damned trees. Her breathing had become so shallow, she almost felt blinded. Still, she knew she had to keep going or he’d find her.

He may have already found her.

She had to get away. She had to escape. There was no way she could live like this anymore. She couldn’t write, could barely think with her “super fan” and the rest of the world breathing down her neck. Clutching her backpack, she kept moving.

If only her escape route hadn’t led her into the forest. God, she hated the outdoors with all its creepy-crawlies and strange fuzzy things. With every step she took, she made sure not to brush up against any sojourning squirrels. When a large bunny hopped in front of her, she had to force the bile back down her throat. To anyone else, it might just look like a fluffy rabbit, but to her, its proportions were grotesque, unnatural.

She kept running so the thing wouldn’t mistake her ankle for a carrot.

Lia could make out the light of a clearing between the trees and forced her aching body toward it. Maybe there was an abandoned house nearby, one she could crawl into and die.

She pushed through the bushes in front of her and stopped in her tracks. She wasn’t alone after all.

There were two enormous bears ahead, staring at her. A black one and, strangely enough, a polar bear. The big fellow seemed a long way from home.

Oh, shit! This was so worse than what she was running from.

As searing panic set in, her tongue dried out and felt like a useless lump in the cavity of her mouth. Hateful chills infested each limb, making every hair on her body stand out. She knew it was ridiculous, this irrational fear of animals. However, ever since “the incident” when she was a kid, Lia hadn’t been able to look at a mammal without prickly fear taking hold.

And these weren’t your average fuzzy woodland creatures. These were bears … like, the person-eating kind.

As Lia’s jaw fell open, she desperately tried to recall everything her summer camp counselors ever told her about what to do if you meet a bear in the forest. Was she supposed to lie down and play dead? Was she supposed to make herself appear larger and howl at them? Or was she just supposed to hightail her fat novelist ass out of there?

She couldn’t remember.

In the split second she stared at them, they seemed to assess her in return. The black one actually looked guarded, his dark eyes wide. And if she didn’t know any better, the polar bear seemed to be grinning at her tits.

Clearly, she was losing it.

Her body took over, and without really considering the consequences, Lia quickly picked up the nearest stick and threw it at her hairy adversaries. It clunked the black one on its head, not hurting him in any way. The bear gawked at her and expelled what appeared to be a huff of surprise.

Oh, no! Don’t piss them off, you moron!

There was only one plan of action racing through her frazzled brain now. Screaming seemed appropriate.

Shaking in terror, Lia dropped her backpack, let her mouth fall wide open, and did her best to scream her head off.

The date with Daniel was going better than Alicia had expected, and when she took his arm as they prepared to leave the restaurant, she thought over their exchanges. He actually showed genuine interest in what I do, and he didn’t make me feel like some kind of freak when I told him about my education. The lightness she felt was soon tempered when she recalled the conversation about her childhood, and she glanced at the side of his face as they moved through the tables to see if he noticed her change in mood. I can’t believe I told him that story. Why am I so comfortable around him? When he held my hand, it was almost as if… Why did I feel better? It was like he took the panic away, but… What am I even thinking about?

The coolness of the night air shocked her out of her inner thoughts, and she took a deep breath as they moved onto the paved path near the water. The three-quarter moon’s light reflected off the lake’s still, black surface. The sound of leaves as they swished and swayed in the wind filtered down, creating a background din that made her feel as if the trees cheered for them as they walked by.

The light wind blowing in her face was like a cool caress, and she closed her eyes for a brief moment and tried to turn off her thoughts. “It’s beautiful out here tonight.”

“Mm-hmm.” Daniel nodded in agreement before he pulled her hand from the crook of his elbow. They both stood still while he took off his blazer, and when he held it up, she smiled and allowed him to drape it over her shoulders.

“No problem. The breeze is a little chilly tonight.”

The scent of his cologne danced around her nostrils, and she found herself fighting the urge to pull the collar to her nose and sniff. It was a clean fragrance with a soapy undertone she liked a lot. When she returned her hand to the bend of his elbow, he pulled his arm closer to his body, and the backs of her fingers rubbed against his side. She could feel the muscles beneath the skin, firm and toned, but not massive. He works out.

There was an unexpected comfort she felt in his presence, and as she realized it, panic began to surface. You don’t know him. You never do things like this. Just go home and go back to your reality. You don’t have time for anything else in your life right now, and you know it. No one is going to put up with your schedule, and it’s not fair to you or him to even pretend this could work out. No matter what you are feeling, let it go and focus on what’s important. Despite the logical rationalizations and demands of her inner voice, she still felt something she couldn’t deny, a feeling she couldn’t explain, a pull well beyond mere attraction. Can I really make room for something like this in my life? Disappointment filled her as she gave in to her analytical nature; she took in a long breath through her nose and blew it out with a bit of force before she squeezed his arm. The light pressure stopped him in his tracks, and he turned to face her. “Daniel, I think…”

“You’re probably tired; let me walk you to your car.” The smile on his face rivaled the moon in its brightness, and as she watched him, she found it harder and harder to say what she was thinking. I’m thinking, not feeling. I always think through things. Why does he make it so hard to think?

A stronger gust of wind blew, and she shielded the side of her face with her hand to keep stray strands of hair out of her eyes. The warmth of his hand over hers as he smoothed her hair back behind her ear was unexpected. When he pulled his hand back, his fingers brushed over her cheek, and she felt her muscles stiffen. She felt a sensation similar to millions of tiny bubbles bursting inside her, and even all over her skin. It was like nothing she’d felt before, but before she could attempt to process it, the feeling morphed into a firing of nerves that stimulated her entire being, and she felt her body heat up. This isn’t how things go in my life. This isn’t normal.

Instinct moved her closer to him, and as she stared into his green eyes, she watched his pupils dilate wider than what was normal for the lighting conditions. She didn’t speak as she took his hand, but she was aware the warmth inside her continued to grow, and as it increased, she began to feel a pulsing sensation deep within. It was then she placed a mental muzzle on her voice of doubt and shoved it down an imaginary flight of stairs. To hell with what you think is normal. I’m done thinking.
